Welcome to Funxional Therapeutics
Funxional Therapeutics Ltd (FXT) is a privately held, clinical stage pharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, UK.
FXT’s focus is on novel anti-inflammatory therapies with the lead product (FX125L, an orally available small molecule acting as a Broad Spectrum Chemokine Inhibitor) currently in Phase I studies in the USA. The clinical indications targeted with FX125L include respiratory disorders such as asthma and COPD, supported by numerous studies in animal models which have consistently suggested that in the clinic FX125L may have similar efficacy but better safety than corticosteroids and superior efficacy than montelukast.
FXT’s three proprietary technologies were originated within Cambridge University and include:
- the Broad Spectrum Chemokine Inhibitors (BSCIs), which are a new class of anti-inflammatory small molecules with a novel mechanism of action that involves the selective interaction with a well characterized receptor, which results in a potent inhibition of inflammatory cells migration,
- Apolipoprotein-E mimetics, which are a novel class of small molecules that can stimulate the clearance of cell debris with applications in inflammation but also other disease areas, and
- G-protein coupled receptors Agonist-Enriched Libraries (GAEL), which are able to identify novel small molecules with potentially exciting pharmacologic profiles.
