Konstantinos has more than 20 years of international experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Drug Delivery industry, covering all aspects of Drug Discovery, Development, Registration and Launch. He worked in a wide range of therapeutic areas, including Dermatology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Anti-infectives, CNS, Cardiovascular and Oncology. Prior to joining Funxional Therapeutics, Konstantinos worked for Eurand, based inMilan,Italy, as the Chief Scientifc Officer of the company, responsible for R&D worldwide. Previous appointments include Corporate VP, Head of the Dermatology Therapeutic Area and Corporate VP, Head of the New Therapies Area within Marketing and Sales with Serono, based inGeneva,Switzerland, and various management roles within Clinical Pharmacology with Glaxo/GlaxoWellcome, based inLondon,UKand within Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics with Farmitalia Carlo Erba, based inMilan,Italy.
Konstantinos has a Pharmacy degree from theUniversityofAthens, an M.Sc. in Industrial Pharmacy and an M.Sc. in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry as well as a Ph.D. in Pharmacology (Pharmacokinetics) from theUniversityofStrasbourg. He also holds an M.B.A. from theLondonBusinessSchool. He is author/co-author of more than 60 scientific publications and of two patents, was invited to speak in international scientific and business conferences and has held visiting Professor appointments at the Universities of Strasbourg andPadua.

Callum Campbell (PhD) - Vice President, Research
& Development
Callum has 24 years postdoctoral experience within the pharmaceutical
industry at Glaxo, Glaxo-Wellcome (GW) and Cambridge Antibody
Technology (CAT). His research at Glaxo and GW spanned 21
years and covered many disciplines and therapeutic areas
including cardiovascular, respiratory and gastrointestinal,
culminating in 30 publications. From 1995 to 2001 Callum
held the position of Head of Department for Vascular Diseases
with responsibility for managing 35 scientists and it was
from this position that he influenced Exploratory Discovery,
Drug Discovery and global cardiovascular strategy. Callum
spent a brief period at GSK in the Ventures Group as Director
of Asset Screening for Europe, gaining further experience
of the commercial, financial and business development disciplines,
after which he joined CAT in 2001 as Director of Internal
Products with responsibility for the progression of proprietary
and joint-venture therapeutic antibodies from Drug Discovery
into Development. As an active member of several global
steering committees his extensive understanding of pharmaceutical
R&D has been widely utilised at GW and CAT in developing
therapeutic product profiles and shaping disease area strategies
during key portfolio reviews and therapeutic focus activities.
Callum has his own pharmaceutical consultancy business.
Callum graduated with a first class honours degree in Biochemistry
in 1977 and PhD in 1980 from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh
prior to undertaking a short post-doctoral fellowship at
Edinburgh University Medical School.

David Grainger (PhD) – Chief Scientific Officer
David graduated with a first class degree from Cambridge
University in 1989 before completing his PhD at Cambridge
in 1992. He is currently a British Heart Foundation Senior
Research Fellow directing an internationally recognized
group of researchers in the Department of Medicine at Cambridge
University in the field of inflammation, with a particular
interest in cardiovascular disease.
His research has been published in a range of leading peer-reviewed
journals including Science, Nature and Nature Medicine,
and he sits on the editorial board of a number of journals
as well as reviewing grant applications for major funding
bodies in both Europe and the US. In addition, he sat on
the scientific advisory board of a number of biotechnology
companies, as well as run a successful consultancy business.
With over 75 scientific publications, David is also an inventor
on more than 120 patents and patent applications.
Between 2002 and 2006, David was the Director of the Translational
Research Unit, located in the grounds of the Papworth Hospital
NHS Foundation Trust. The Translational Research Unit comprises
a dedicated clinical trials unit based at the UK’s
premier cardiothoracic hospital. Under David's direction,
the unit performed multiple large (1,000+ patient) clinical
trials, as well as a number of smaller clinical research
studies.

Bob Schroff (PhD, MBA) – Founder and Consultant
Bob has 23 years of post-doctoral experience in university,
government, biotechnology and pharmaceutical settings where
he has shown the ability to take cutting edge technologies
from the laboratory setting to the stage of commercial formulations
capable of demonstrating efficacy in clinical evaluations.
He has an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences from the
University of Missouri, a PhD in Immunology from Wake Forest
University and an MBA from the University of Washington.
His work has resulted in 70 scientific publications, including
the original publication of the AIDS syndrome in the New
England Journal of Medicine while at UCLA, and the first
clinical trials of monoclonal antibodies while at the National
Cancer Institute.
In 1984, Bob was among the start-up team of scientists that
formed NeoRx Corporation. As Vice President and General
Manager of Cardiovascular Products, Bob was responsible
for the development of a new division that advanced two
product candidates into proof of concept clinical trials.
Bob established Schroff Consulting Services in 2000, and
through that entity managed the scientific activities of
the US R&D subsidiary of the Ipsen Group, where he was
responsible for a scientific staff of 24 individuals.

Philippe Wiesel (MD, PhD) – Clinical Development Advisor
Dr. Philippe Wiesel is a biotech entrepreneur and clinical consultant specialized in product pipeline management and early stage clinical development. Previously, Dr. Wiesel founded Genexion, a clinical development company focused on the assessment, elaboration and execution of early stage clinical development strategies for emerging biotech companies and European venture capital firms. Prior to Genexion, Dr. Wiesel was a medical director at Serono's Swiss and US offices, where he was involved with the global development of several biologics and small molecules. In particular, he led the late stage clinical development of Raptiva to achieve the first marketing authorization in Europe for a biologic therapy targeting psoriasis. Dr Wiesel also led the development of onercept in psoriasis and managed clinical development programs for beta interferon, interleukin-18 binding protein, TACI-Ig, and caspase inhibitors in several acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. Altogether, these studies programs included several thousands patients with chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Prior to joining the biotech industry, Dr Wiesel conducted basic research for over five years, studying signalling pathways leading to inflammatory gene responses in the laboratory of Professor Edgar Haber at the Harvard Medical School, and vascular biology at the Division of Hypertension led by Professor Hans Brunner in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr. Wiesel obtained his medical doctor degree from the University of Lausanne Medical School in 1993.
